About the Ringling
Founded in 1927 by John Ringling (one of the 5 Ringling brothers who ran the circus known as “The Greatest Show on Earth”), the museum of art has since became Ringling’s legacy. John Ringling amassed an incredible art collection while traveling Europe looking for new circus acts. To house this collection, Ringling built a 21-gallery museum in Sarasota, Florida. The U-shaped pink palace houses Ringling’s treasure trove of paintings and art objects, highlighted by a collection of the grand European masters.
