About The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens
The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, commonly known as “The Huntington,” is a 207-acre property in Southern California that houses 300 archival collections from different people, cultures, and societies of the Pacific Rim.
The Huntington houses exceptional 20th-century American prints from various artists, including Thomas Hart Benton. The Huntington's Art Collectors Council acquired one of his artworks, The Yankee Driver (1923), as part of their American galleries reopening in May of 2009. The artwork depicts Billy Benson, a Martha’s Vineyard local who would do odd jobs around the island. Thomas Hart Benton and his family would spend every summer on Martha’s Vineyard from 1920 to 1975.
