About The Art Institute of Chicago
The Art Institute of Chicago was founded in 1879 with the ambition of sharing its incredible collection of artworks with its community, both local and international. A staple of downtown Chicago, the Art Institute has grown to over 300,000 works of art and over 1,000,000 square feet of space.
The Art Institue of Chicago is home to the School at the Art Institute of Chicago, where Thomas Hart Benton enrolled in 1907 before moving to Paris.
