About the Terra Foundation for American Art
The Terra Foundation of American Art was established in 1978, and focused on supporting organizations and individuals who assist in broadening the understanding of American art.
Located in Chicago (where Thomas Hart Benton pursued formal artistic training at the School of Art Institute of Chicago), the Terra Foundation art collection includes more than 750 paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, and sculptures dating from the 1750s to the 1980s, including five works of art by Thomas Hart Benton. Though without a permanent home, the art collection is available to the public via loans and exhibitions.
