About the Archives of American Art
Founded in 1954, the Archives of American Arts is a unique center dedicated to preserving, cataloging, and providing primary resource information about the visual arts. The archive preserves and makes it possible to access sources documenting the history of the visual arts in the United States. It has the most extensive collection of oral histories anywhere on the subject of art.
The Archives contain over 20 million items and resources, including references on Thomas Hart Benton, such as interviews, biographies, research papers, letters, handwritten manuscripts, and even a personal photograph.
