Akron Art Museum
About the Akron Art Museum
The Akron Art Museum was founded in the 1800s as a school and center for the arts, though the focus of the facility and charter have changed over time. The school closed in 1965, with the Akron Art Museum renewing its focus on developing a unique collection of artwork from 1850 through the present.
The Akron Art Museum is now over 20,000 square feet, with a permanent collection of over 7,000 items. Within this collection are three works of art by Thomas Hart Benton.
